INSTRUCTIONS FOR AFFECTED EMPLOYEES

With backup generators in place, we expect that most employees’ work schedules will not be impacted. However, hourly classified employees and salaried non-exempt classified and unclassified employees scheduled to work in these buildings on March 28 and March 30 during times when buildings are without power should work with their supervisors regarding this temporary interruption. Supervisors may approve employees’ requests for a temporary flexible work schedule, a temporary reassignment to another location (if possible), or request use of vacation leave, personal leave or compensatory time for missed time.

For more information regarding work scheduling during these outages, please refer to the OSU website regarding Interruptions of University Operations. Employees who are working in one of the buildings that will be temporarily closed may request leave using the Employee Leave Request form. Employees who would like to request a temporary change to their work schedule should utilize the Flexible Work Schedule Request form or request the temporary change in EmpCenter.

This work is needed to improve the stability of the Corvallis campus electrical grid and university operations. Planned outages will be announced as far in advance as possible and we will work closely with the occupants to minimize negative consequences. The university is currently developing a 12-month Outage Plan and a 5-year Outage Forecast, designed to lessen the impacts of the outages on campus. More information will be available soon.

If you have questions or concerns regarding the power outage, please contact Anita Azarenko, associate vice president for university facilities, infrastructure and operations. If you have questions or concerns regarding employee work time or leave, please contact Employee Relations.
